Emissions Trading Scheme – bad for rural Australia

The meetings sponsored by PRA, the Australian Climate Science Coalition and Agmates, held at Roma and Clermont were reassuringly successful -160 attendees at Roma and 80 at Clermont.  The 4 Corners production team filmed the whole event at Roma and we are told it is to be screened on 9th November.

Barnaby Joyce was in full flight at Roma and Professor Carter gave his two-hour riveting presentation at each venue.

The postcode addresses for attendees came from all over southern Queensland with one from Cairns and many from Brisbane.

Barnaby’s message was that the ETS is nothing but a crippling tax and should be treated as such.  My take home message from Professor Carter’s presentation, having heard it three times, and shared a nine hour car trip, is that all you suspected about this man made global warming phenomenon being a scam is true and much, much more.

The pivotal point in Carter’s presentation is the first slide of the second of four segments.  In the first session he destroys the alarmist’s science and then demonstrates how they have managed to get to their present position with no credible evidence.

The first slide of the second segment shows an ABC Children’s programme where a seven year old child is invited to calculate its present carbon footprint and arrive at an age when they have used their allocation and have to prepare to die.  That age is nine in the example given.

At every meeting there were expressions of spontaneous outrage at this point.

Bob Carter told me he could give a twenty minute slide show of similar examples of child abuse around the world.

Professor Carter then went into forensic detail of how science has been corrupted by sponsorship with an agenda and the media has been blind sided and the ETS evolved.

The immensely wealthy Green Coalition will gain control and the Big End of Town will reap a fortune in commissions trading carbon credits and the people attempting to operate in the middle ground will pay and pay.

The ETS, “the worst bill since federation” and trading “a scammer’s clipboard.”

Professor Carter was the principle expert scientific witness for the prosecution at a successful High Court challenge brought by a truck driver in Great Britain that Al Gore’s film, “An Inconvenient Truth” shown without disclaimers to his daughter was deceptive propaganda.  Of the thirty-five claimed errors, nine should be highlighted at every showing of the film in British schools.  The government of course is alarmist and has not enforced this rule.

Some members have voiced concern at alarmist material presented by Dr Jeff Clewitt at a series of meetings in rural Queensland.  This material is being assessed.

We are encouraging people URGENTLY to voice their opposition to the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme by contacting senators, particularly Liberal

This is explained well if you look up this site:

Also go to the website www.listentous.org.au where you can sign a petition which will be presented to parliament.

We commissioned a DVD record of the Roma meeting.  If the quality is good enough and pertinent and not too costly we may consider distribution.

When we got to Clermont, Peter Anderson and his wife Julia had twenty chairs put out and we thought we would be lucky to fill them.  The crowd rolled in and we seated 80 in an excellent venue with wonderful audience interaction.  Thankyou Peter and Julia for using your networks to get people along.

A special thankyou to Cate Stuart of St George and Steve Truman of Agmates for starting all this, and to Lorna’s niece who lives near Roma for helping me to find a most suitable venue.  She also helped locate a young man, Bryce Duke in Roma to record proceedings, and being the president of the local performing arts group, he volunteered their excellent sound equipment.  It all helped to get an excellent result.  He is starting a new business so give him a hand.

Professor Carter’s charming wife, Anne, helped us at Roma and manned the door at Clermont. She is an enthusiastic supporter of the cause, has professional competencies in her own right, and kept the professor and I awake on the return trip to Rockhampton.

An extra thankyou to Ashley McKay for opening proceedings at Roma.  If PRA ever has to elect patron saints, Ashley and Doris’ names will go up in lights.  They stood their ground!

Vegetation Laws

Meanwhile our board is monitoring the fallout from the new Vegetation Management Plan.  I would like to hear from people who have viewed their post moratorium non PMAV maps.  I got a call from an excited landowner south of Boonah who, with his mates, has post moratorium pink over their maps.  With the inability to clear lantana and wattle, land pre-moratorium worth $7000 and acre will soon be rendered worthless.

There will be severe repercussions in the Belyando catchment to riparian claims on every tiny tributary.

We will watch this closely and report as information comes to hand.  The greens and the government required a million hectares and got a million hectares.
